FAQs
What gear is in there?

  • A PA and mixer
  • Two floor monitors
  • At least four vocal mics and stands
  • Three guitar amps:
    Vox AV60
    Vox Cambridge 50
Marshall Valvestate VS65r (channel one very noisy at the moment sorry – getting that fixed as we speak)
  • A bass amp: Fender Rumble 100
  • An 88 key stage piano plus an Ashton BA4012 you can use as a keys amp
  • A Gretsch Catalina Maple 5pc kit, plus hi-hats, ride, and crash. Drummers are welcome to bring any of their own stuff in addition, plus sticks. There aren’t any spare sticks. You’d think drummers would usually think to bring their own sticks, but sometimes they don’t. Yup. It’s a thing.

Can I use all the gear?

That’s the point! It’s set up and ready for you to go, so load-in and load-out don’t use up half your session.

I forgot my guitar lead! Can you lend me one?

There are some spare leads in the cupboard. Please don’t walk off with them.

Can I bring my own gear?

Sure thing! Knock yourself out! As long as it’s not a 10,000 watt PA. Or a waterblaster. Or an automatic assault rifle. We do discourage people turning up with their own enormous amps though. See other parts of this site related to noise, neighbours, etc.

Can I leave my gear in the space?

Probably best if you don’t, as there’ll be other people using the space. Not impossible if you’ve got lots of bookings, but check with us first.

I can’t get the [piece of kit] to work. Can you come and show me how to use it?

Ur… nope. Sorry. We’re nice people (honest), but we’re not a training facility. We expect you to have a basic working knowledge of how to work a basic [piece of kit]. It’s not hard. Try some YouTube videos.

Seriously though, the [piece of kit] really doesn’t seem to work.

Are you sure? Are you really sure? Is it turned on at the wall? And plugged in? And turned up? And not muted? And are all your cables in good condition and not busted? And have you turned the mic on?

Yes dude, I know what I’m doing and your [piece of kit] is pretty fried.

Ok. We’re really sorry about that. Please let us know, and we’ll get it fixed as soon as possible.

Do you have a toilet I could use?

Sure thing! It’s just up the stairs at the end. A brush is provided for your additional convenience.

It’s a bit sweaty in here. Do you have some ventilation?

Oh yes we do! Go up the stairs into the kitchen, and you’ll see a big fan thing plugged into a socket in the ceiling. Just turn it on at the socket. You’ll know when it’s going.

That fan I just turned on is pretty noisy. Can I turn it off?

You sure can! Just complete the steps above in reverse.

But now I’ve turned it off I’m really hot again.

There’s a freestanding fan in the room too. You can use that.

Now I’m a bit chilly.

Put a jumper on.
